Congratulations on earning your Certified Information Professional (CIP) certification. You've successfully demonstrated an understanding of the body of knowledge necessary for information professionals to be successful in the Intelligent Information Management era. Now, all you have to do is maintain it.
In order to maintain your CIP status, you must submit 60 continuing education credits (CEUs) every three years. Credits are only awarded for activities that are educational in nature and align with the Intelligent Information Management body of knowledge. This includes:
Creating and Capturing Information
Extracting Intelligence from Information
Digitalizing Information-Intensive Processes
Automating Governance and Compliance
Implementing an Information Management Solution
For non-AIIM events, you must provide proof of attendance (receipt, confirmation email, certificate of attendance, etc.) and documentation that the event is related to one of the learning domains mentioned above (brochure, webpage/email with event description, etc.)
Once you've submitted your CEUs, the next step is to pay the renewal fee of $150 ($135 for members). Once your payment and CEUs have been successfully submitted, your CIP status will be good for another three years. Congratulations!
