For years, we’ve justified information management and governance by what it prevents. This year, we’re asking what it makes possible.
Outside the Lines: Rethinking Information Management in the AI Era challenges information professionals to move beyond traditional boundaries and connect IM/IG decisions to the business outcomes organisations care about most. As organisations work to get their data ready for AI, the conversation can no longer stop at risk, compliance, and control. It must also include trust, innovation, efficiency, resilience, and strategic value.
This free half-day forum is built to test the assumptions we walk in with, challenge the limits of “the way we’ve always done it,” and connect daily information management practice to what matters most to our organisations.
The day includes keynote presentations, interactive roundtables, a fast-paced case study competition featuring real-world projects, and lunch. You’ll leave with sharper thinking, a practical framework for making your case, and ideas you can use right away.

AI+IM REGIONAL FORUM SCHEDULE
Welcome Remarks
Our host and our Diamond Sponsor, Preservica, open the day and frame the question we're here to explore. Most of us have justified information management by what it prevents. AI is changing that, and good information is increasingly what determines whether AI delivers.
Email is where most government business actually happens, and it's also one of the hardest collections to manage. Volumes are huge, context is scattered across threads, and manual review can't keep pace. David Canning, Head of Digital Knowledge and Information Management at the Cabinet Office, will share how his team is using AI to review email collections: what they tried, what worked, where human judgement still matters, and what they'd tell other organisations thinking about doing the same.
Case Study: Preservica
This session shares a real-world example of how one Preservica customer rethought their approach to preserving and managing long-term digital records. You'll hear what prompted the change, what they did differently, and the practical results that followed, from easier access to trusted information to better outcomes for the people who depend on it.
Networking Break
A chance to follow up directly with our sponsor and peers. Refreshments are served.
Roundtable Discussion
Each table will take stock of what they've heard from our speakers and case studies. You'll share what squared with your own thinking, the three points that stood out most, and what's still circling in your head. From there, the conversation turns to what you'd do differently back at your organisation, and how you'd make the case for information management in terms a business leader cares about. Each table will share one takeaway with the room.
As organisations rebuild around AI, information professionals have a rare chance to claim the territory no one else can occupy. Eryn Peters draws on what she's heard in the room today and hands you the 2030 IM Leader Framework, a practical guide to what to learn, what to delegate, and what to influence. You'll leave knowing how to position yourself as the translator between data and meaning, and how to communicate that value upward without waiting for permission.
Closing Remarks
We will share final remarks, key takeaways, and close with a resource to take back to your organisation.
