Attention U.S. Veterans: The CIP Exam is Reimbursable Under GI Bill

The Certified Information Professional (CIP) exam has been approved for reimbursement under the Veterans Education Benefit program for Licensing and Certification reimbursements administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs - aka the GI Bill. Veterans with education benefits can apply for reimbursement for the CIP exam for up to $349.

Who is eligible?
Any veteran with unused GI Bill education benefits who takes the CIP exam. Visit http://www.GIBILL.va.gov for more information about VA education benefits.

What is covered?

Only the CIP exam, though retakes are covered as well. Prep courses, study guides, and other training courses are not covered. The cost of the exam, up to $349, is covered, and benefits are prorated so you only use up the cost of the exam.

When can a veteran apply for reimbursement?

Generally within one (1) year of taking the exam.

How to apply for reimbursement?
Once you complete the exam, whether you pass or fail, you can send the test results and cost along with some additional information directly to the VA. The full checklist for application is listed on the back of the official VA License or Certification brochure.
