This white paper series was the result of a Task Force of AIIM members, working with Dr. Andrew McAfee. The AIIM Task Force on Social Business and Innovation explored the concept of Systems of Engagement and surveyed members of the AIIM community. The results revealed specific business problems that are successfully addressed by adopting Systems of Engagement for better communication, innovation and sharing of knowledge. The concepts of Systems of Engagement and Systems of Record and their impact on information professionals was introduced by the AIIM Task Force on the Future of Enterprise IT, headed by Geoffrey Moore. This research, that explored the emergence of Systems of Engagement and its co-existence with traditional Systems of Records, was published in Systems of Engagement and the Future of Enterprise IT – A Sea Change in Enterprise IT.

Andrew McAfee is a Principal Research Scientist at the Center for Digital Business, part of the MIT Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, MA. Dr. McAfee is a researcher, writer, and teacher about technology's impact on the world of business.
