Extending SharePoint with Document-Centric Cloud Applications
Microsoft Office SharePoint Services is a familiar name to corporate customers, but organizations trying to use SharePoint for processes more complex than basic collaboration face several well-known and expensive challenges. The reality is, to be effective in automating business processes, SharePoint requires significant investment in professional services and product extensions to provide critical and missing functionality. This paper will explore the evolution and maintenance of SharePoint in the corporate environment, then show how the platform can be extended and enhanced through cloud computing to create powerful, scalable and cost effective document-centric applications such as contract management, case management, invoice processing and hundreds of others.
