Bio
I have spent 12+ years as Documentum architect, deployment analyst, migration and integration specialist with experience in Records Management, Web Content Management , Document Management and Engineering Diagram Management. Coming from a background of database design and programming with imaging expertise I got into Document Management at the deep end by joining a Documentum distributor, Daleel Documentum, in the Middle East and then the Documentum main campus in Pleasanton, California. Those first few years were fascinating and challenging with so much to learn and so little time. Years have flown by and after 911 I found myself managing/administrating the North American Documentum installations for SquareD / Schneider-Electric (distributed repository) and then off into consulting and a move back to Calgary, Alberta where I have been helping organizations take on the difficult administrative and architectural Documentum challenges. What seems to be a calling of sorts is upgrading Documentum systems, migrating content between various versions and platforms and creating and implementing integrations to other systems such as PeopleSoft and SAP. Lately I have also been designing and implementing Documentum systems with heavy customizations and Records Management applications, including SharePoint integrations. One of the things I have become passionate about lately is using a unified taxonomy across the enterprise for document and records management. Too often I am called in to upgrade, consolidate and integrate large numbers of small,(and some not so small) single-purpose repositories that have been created in isolation but have become silos of business critical information that cannot be integrated into larger enterprise business processes. I advocate a large scale awareness and analysis on enterprise information and knowledge to facilitate a nimble information management strategy which allows organizations to adapt to today's rapidly changing environment.
