Bio

Over the course of my career, I have learned how to harness technology and human solutions. I design systems and logistics that align to industry standards, but are also easier to adopt and leverage then historical processes mired in outdated requirements and politics. I have been leading efforts to design and incubate solutions in information management for over two decades; progressing from librarian to consultant to manager. I have done both tactical, technical work (content conversion, metadata implementation, document indexing and web portal development) and strategic work (market analysis, strategic planning and business development). I have led teams of direct and indirect reports in efforts to build a successful business and solve both client problems and internal, corporate challenges. Fundamentally, I am passionate about the intersection between information sharing, technology and business. Over the last few years, I have helped McKesson Pharmaceutical pass a data security audit by developing a SharePoint site with evidence of workflow procedures and training materials. At UCSF, I managed the records management requirements as 129 HR units were consolidated into 5 service centers; producing a system to retrieve records for over 70,000 employees saving the university huge sums by effectively producing evidence during litigation. At Oakland Public Library, I reduced the operating budget by 20% by consolidating reference departments into a single point of service and reorganizing millions of volumes. Finally, at Pearson Education, I helped repurpose thousands of learning exercises from print textbooks; digitizing and indexing them for purchase during customized learning exercises.
