I started as a software developer in 1956, 57 years ago. First two computers used were the SWAC at UCLA and the Burroughs E101 at Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica. When I worked for IBM about 10 years later, I was one of the implementors of the IBM 360 assembler. I was IPLing a model 40 when all the lights went out as soon as I pushed the red button. That was the famous East Coast blackout. I thought that I had caused it.
