Some call me a gadget geek, but I’d like to consider myself a consumer with an obsession for new and shiny things. What started as a few purchases here and there, has evolved into the possession of a Sony Book Reader, two generations of Kindles, a BlackBerry, the iPhone 4, and an iPad 3G. Not to mention my daughters’ iPad, our family’s various notebook computers, and an assortment of gaming systems. I like them all, but when there is something newer, better, and just a bit shinier, it’s time for an upgrade.
Like my host of gadgetry, I think that the industry we work in is constantly upgrading itself as well; technology is a revolution of innovation and the capture market is expanding to places we have not seen before. Adoption of enterprise technologies and the expansion of the capture market are present in the U.S. and all over the world.
With the rapid growth of this industry, people need a trusted source with real world information that isn’t misleading. I am a straight shooter, and I will tell you how it is. I’ll address what is happening within the capture market and provide feedback on what is going on, especially in the mobile capture and cloud computing industries. I’ll provide you with information on what’s happening on a day-to-day basis, reflect on what is working, and concentrate on the issues customers are facing. Plus, I’ll examine the adoption of capture technologies related to both public and private sectors.
What makes me the expert and trusted source, you ask? I have gained experience in the OCR and capture communities since the early 90s, and I have many personal relationships within the industry. I have a broad range of perspective on mobile capture, workflow, and document managements. As the North American Chairman of the AIIM Trade Member (ATM) Board, I see this blog as an opportunity to converse what is really going on in the market, use my range of insight and the contacts that I have within the capture community, and provide feedback on what is happening in document capture.
On a more personal note, when I’m not evangelizing about OCR, I’m dedicated to my family. I have two daughters, who are avid softball players, and I’m their biggest fan. When not cheering them on the field, I volunteer for local youth programs and make my way out to the course for a few rounds of golf.
