Pitney Bowes recently introduced a new electronic mailroom solution, and I just have one thing to say about it:
- I do not believe there is any such thing as an electronic mailroom.
This isn't intended to be a dig at PB, by the way. But it reminded me of the way emailroom technology is most often described and sometimes sold, especially by some companies that sell imaging and OCR software.
To dig into this a bit further, please listen to my Internet Radio piece (think of it as an audio blog!) at http://bit.ly/cW9QJc – I helped conduct the first real survey of the emailroom opportunity more than 10 years ago, and you'll hear why I’m still not convinced that it’s the best thing since Sliced Beer.
