Take the test to see which.

I’m always amazed when our AIIM surveys show that a third of even the largest organizations – those with over 5,000 employees – have no real policies on electronic records keeping. Then again, many smaller organizations are not too good at keeping paper records – or maybe they’re good at keeping them but poor at finding them again!

Across this spectrum, there are organizations that would be in deep trouble if they found themselves in court, compared to those that take a pro-active view of records keeping, and take every opportunity to leverage the company “knowledge-store”.  This is where the AIIM Records Management Competency Assessment tool can help organizations place themselves on that spectrum, and see what steps they should take to get themselves further along it towards ”records management nirvana”.

The tool is in the form of a wizard. You answer some questions in three different categories – people, process and technology – and the tool works out your competency score, and compares it with what other people have scored, and with  Level 5 best practice. You can then access a set of resources targeted at getting you from your current level to the next level up.  As always, the most revealing thing about the test is seeing what things you might need to be doing to achieve a best practice score. Why not give it a try now – here.
