When you select an enterprise content management product, what do you look for? Is ease of use for your end users important? Integration with standards such as CMIS (or DOD 5015 if the solution needs to deal with records)? Availability as SaaS? What's most important? Least important?

Hi Bryant,I can't tell you about my own criteria but I can tell you about our customers. Our customers look for: 1. Ease o fuse 2. Adaptability to their own processes (customization). 3. Integration with other systems (CMIS).Some customers ask for SaaS, but the most of the times they ask this to get a cheaper solution. The most important for our customers is ease of use.The least important is the technology behind.Regards

Sadly, I see that criteria for choosing an ECM system is first and foremost, based upon the technology roadmap which seldom has any input from anyone other than a small, select group within IT management.Ideally, the items you listed - ease of use, integration options - are items that are highly important and would be part of a thorough analysis process (knock on wood - wouldn't we hope?) from the business charged with owning this system and its associated processes.
