Sharepoint 2010 discussion boards vs SharePoint 2007 discussion boards

Has anyone within this discussion group used the out of the box SharePoint discussion boards to set up internal discussion forums on your intranets and if so what was your experience of them? Are there significant improvements in 2010 vs 2007?

There are no significant improvements. The functionality is exactly the same. I'm working on a project right now where I have a limited budget to make some improvements to the default discussion experience in 2010. I'll send an update next week with what I figure out. In the meantime, do you have any specific requirements?

After playing around with the discussion experience a little, I believe it can be greatly improved using the new XSLT List View Web Part in SharePoint 2010. I'll get a blog post up about how to do it.
