SharePoint 2010 Records Center and InfoPath 2010 forms

We are using SharePoint 2010 and InfoPath 2010. Recently we were mandated to set up a Records Center in SharePoint. We would like to declare a completed InfoPath browser based form as a record. When we send the completed form to the Records Center and try to open it, we get a message to download it. Is there anyway to just view the completed form in the browser from the Records Center? Has anyone else done this using the SharePoint 2010 Records Center template?

Jessica,

The resulting form is an XML file. You can modify in the 14 hive what default applications open xml, and how they behave. Doing this will not give you the friendly formatting that you are used to though. As far as I know the only way to get that formatting is in InfoPath filler, which would then make it editable and not a record. The web based view of the form is only for before submission.

I would suggests a different approach. I would add in your business process a step that converts the form from the InfoPath xml to a PDF document, and save the PDF document in the records center instead. This is more inline with what a records is, and will solve your viewing problem as well.

You could consider in-place RM?
