Seeking an MBA Research Proposal on Social Business

Keywords: MBA Social Business Design ROI

I'm busy looking at putting a a research proposal for my MBA and am considering the topic of "Social Business" as a potential area to study. Through my literature review, I've been able to draw the following big questions in the industry:

  • Is "Social Business" really going to change the face of management and organizing?
  • What's the ROI/Economic Value of Social Business?
  • How do business managers perceive these socio-technical changes that are taking place?
  • Readiness of Large Corporates for Social Business Design
  • Implications of Social Business Design for the Private Sector
  • Critical Success Factors for implementing Social Business Systems.

Personally I think a good research area would be about something to do with understanding the value of informal organizing structures and also the cost of trying to deliver barely repeatable processes using traditional management approaches and software systems.

I would appreciate if you could respond with either a few more research questions/problems/gaps on Social Business studies, or to perhaps provide me with your thoughts around the value that could be yielded by a study on any of the above so that it could help me decide.  Would love to hear as to your suggesstions for collecting data as well around these topics as the last thing I would want to do would be to try to explore a topic where information is not readily available to difficult to attain.
