Raw Data and Electronic Records Management

We are interested in input from the community on how raw data is being handled as an electronic record. Our particular use case is where the raw data is being provided as a deliverable along with a transmittal of some type (i.e., correspondence or contracts). Normally the entire transmittal package is kept as a record, with the appropriate retenttion schedule applied. Our ERM system has rules about which file types are acceptable for records retention. Raw data attachments do not meet that file criteria and creates concerns with ensuring the file is "usable" for it's scheduled lifetime.

Do you have an electronic record’s system?
-
Have you established “acceptable file formats” for your electronic record system? (Examples, PDF, MS Office PPT, DOC, XLS, TIFF, JPG, etc.)
-
Do you except raw data and/or nonstandard file formats for storage in your electronic record system?
-
Do you require the software applications that create the raw data and/or nonstandard file formats be preserved? If so, how is the records community involved?
-
What issues are you facing regarding raw data and nonstandard file formats as electronic record?
