Does your org/agency have a comprehensive view of your customers?

I’ve been learning a bit lately about integrating document management systems with other types of systems so that there’s the full big-picture view of everything. Things like seeing the pending contracts, purchase orders, memos and correspondence – in addition to the regular data fields found in a CRM-type database.

How useful would this be in your company? To groups like sales teams, customer service depts., etc.? Who else could benefit from this type of integration? How do you make the case for something like this?

I think this could be the main reason of buying ECM solution for many organizations, most users need to see everything from one place whatever it is from ECM or from the other information systems. Managers, Customer Service and even the customer themselves could benefit from this type of integration. Take patent as an example, it the hospital has an integration between HIS, FACS, and ECM, they can see the one picture of their file from the web.
