Do you trust your Facebook users? Why/why not?

Lots of organizations still block Facebook and tools like it at the firewall - or at least they think they do (hello, iPad2!). Why is that? What's the difference between networking on Facebook and networking at a conference? Conversely, what's the difference between wasting time on Facebook and wasting time at the watercooler, surfing the non-Facebook web at your desk (March Madness, anyone?), or even taking a smoke break or 10 over the course of a day?

So do you trust your users with the proverbial keys to Facebook? Why or why not?

It seems to me that orgs that don't trust their users to use FB or other forms of social media don't understand social media, and sometimes don't understand their users. They fear what they don't understand.
