Capturing Social Media

I have been listening to many people talk about the importance of managing all your information including the information over social networks.  Make sure policies are in place, staff is trained, and so on....  What nobody seems to really be able to answer is how do you capture and retain this information.

Does anybody have a good answer? If so I would love to hear how your organization is managing this information.

Stephanie, in your question, "What nobody seems to really be able to answer is how do you capture and retain this information" ...are you asking how you capture and retain the information on the social network or the policies and procedures or both.

To me, I think the ability to capture and retain all company related "business" postings on FaceBook, Linkedin, YouTube, Twitter, ad nauseam is bording on, if not already, impossible. I too would like to hear how a company like Proctor & Gamble ensures that all company related business postings are saved as records. Or do they need to be? Also, I would bet, based on my experience consulting with companies, that very few companies have developed social network specific policies and procedures (P&P). So without the P&P, it would be difficult to actually "capture" as a records any of the social network material.

Yes I was looking for both. I agree with you I don't think anyone is doing this successfully or ever well today.
