Best Practices Migration Plan Question

I'm a project/program manager appointed to manage for a large international organization several intranet migration projects (for the different entities of the organisation). The target platform is SharePoint 2010. I'm looking for some best practices, things that shouldn't be forget, ... to manage these projects/program. Thanks in advance.

You might want to look at the AIIM SharePoint training program. This program covers many of the elements needed for a successful SharePoint implementation like taxonomy, governance, metadata and a section dedicated to migration which is part of the Specialist level program.
