Any examples of Creative Commons content sharing within Enterprise 2.0?

I recently targeted a question to a few people on Twitter, including Bert Sandie:

Can Creative Commons content-sharing work in an Enterprise 2.0 setting? Do you know of any implemented examples?

I ask if CC content-sharing can work because of a few barriers that still exist from Enterprise 1.0:

  • the long-established practice of the Communications department acting as a gatekeeper to media content and charging for it in a paid-for model through contracts with online media companies like Getty, Corbis etc.
  • and then, of course, there are Legal departments which argue against anything that doesn't come firmly under the remit of All Rights Reserved copyright.

I have used and I have shared Creative Commons licensed content as an individual for the last five years. As an Enterprise 2.0 Community Manager, I would love to see this implemented on my employee community because of the creativity and the new user content that grows from the practice of sharing content. People who receive full attribution for sharing content are more likely to submit more content, and to participate fully in social networking.

So, does anyone know of any organizations which have successfully implemented Creative Commons content-sharing behind the firewall, or outside it through their branded social media?
