The Education Advisory Groups will regularly review the process for the development and maintenance of certification schemes for improved quality, security and efficiency. This will be done in partnership with the Education Advisory Groups and Master Accreditation Committee.

The Home Case Studies submitted by Master Class attendees are reviewed by an appointed AIIM Master Accreditation Committee that consists of leading industry professionals. New members are appointed by the committee and each Home Case Study is reviewed by two AIIM Master Accreditation Committee members. Committee members will excuse themselves from the reviewing process if the papers are submitted by personal friends, customers, or former students. The papers will then be reviewed by other members of the Master Accreditation Committee.

The industry experts review the entire case study, consisting of three (3) or four (4) tasks, based on the following parameters:

  • Content - for each task assigned, the student needs to demonstrate and show understanding of the topic.  The student will not only discuss the topic but also must be able to elaborate on it to show clearly that they have a sound grasp of the subject.  The content provided can be outside the course material but using the course material may make it much easier for the student to show a sound understanding of the topic.  The AIIM course does provide substantial material for students to support their arguments.
  • Evidence and reasoning - for each task assigned, the student needs to provide the theory of the topic and present the case study organization's issues and circumstances to support the action that the student is identifying.  A lot of content is provided in the course material, as well as a large volume of descriptive information on the particular organization, which will give the student substantial details to use in their response.  Is this information provided by the student to substantiate their arguments? From the information provided, does the student show sound analysis and skills to support an appropriate response to the task?
  • Professionalism (Organization and literacy) - for each task assigned, the student needs to demonstrate that they have the skills to present a well-thought out response, and in a professional manner.  This means that the response is well constructed, presented in a logical manner and is grammatically correct.

Each of these categories will be evaluated using the following structure:

  • Outstanding grade
  • Passing grade
  • Correctable grade
  • Failing grade

The final grade is to be assigned across all three (or four) tasks of the alternative assignment responded to by the student.  The tasks are taken as a whole and the overall grade is assigned.  For example, the response to Task 1 may be found to be at an Outstanding level and the response to Task 2 could be at a Passing level.  All work must be taken into consideration to assign the final grade for the whole case study - in this case, a Passing grade.

In the same way, the response to the case study must satisfy all three categories for the assigned grade level.  For example, a student may be given a Passing rating for Content and/or Professionalism, but a Correctable level for Evidence and Reasoning.  The overall rating should be the lowest level across these three categories - in this instance, a Correctable rating.

There are two circumstances that arise from time to time:

  • The student may respond to all alternative assignments that were provided, instead of picking only one.  The grader will only mark the first task completed and assign a rating.
  • The student does not complete all the tasks required in the alternative assignment.  The case study will be assigned a Correctable rating and the student will be instructed to complete the missing work and resubmit.

AIIM Master Accreditation Committee members are required to document why they fail candidates or why they require additional information.
