Course Descriptions

The Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Training Program consists of the following tracks:

  • ECM Practitioner (online or classroom training available)
    The ECM Practitioner training program presents strategies, methods and tools for managing content. In addition, this course provides an overview of key ECM technologies and their business benefits as well as how to properly address critical areas like information architecture, metadata and taxonomies. 
  • ECM Specialist (online or classroom training available)
    ECM Specialist (online or classroom training available) The ECM Specialist training program covers global best practices for planning and implementing ECM and integrating ECM into collaborative business processes, building upon the topics covered in the Practitioner track.
  • ECM Master
    • Classroom Course 
      The ECM Master training program provides a thorough understanding of ECM with the main elements from all of the above with the addition of case study exercises. No prior participation in other tracks is required to enroll.
    • Virtual Class
      This ECM Master virtual class allows students the opportunity to attend the master class and to meaningfully engage with peers and the instructor, while saving time, and lowered costs compared to the classroom course. 
    • Preparation Workshop
      Allows individuals who have already completed the Practitioner and Specialist Training Programs to discuss, share, and learn global best practices for ECM.

You can either start directly with the Master Classroom Course or first take Practitioner and Specialist online or classroom courses, before taking a Master Preparation Workshop.

The ECM Specialist program (How to implement ECM?)

The course covers how to develop an ECM strategy, how to identify and prioritize the business requirements for ECM, how to develop and define the technology requirements for ECM, how to build an ECM roadmap and prioritize projects based on the requirements, how to develop, test and train, and how to deploy, operate and close-out an ECM implementation. The course also covers how to plan for continuous improvement once the project is complete. We recommend that you take the ECM Practitioner course before starting the ECM Specialist course.
