Best Practices Community - FAQ

FAQ

How does the Best Practices Community program work?

The program is modeled after the AIIM Standards development efforts - team brainstorming and contributions, peer-developed papers, and peer-reviewed. The papers published from this program will not be submitted for ANSI or ISO approval, however.

Do you have samples of other Best Practices papers?
This is a new program. As such, we're committing to two papers in 2007, so we can be flexible with adapting the program to best suit a speedy development time and to maximize your contributions and efforts.

How much time will I have to give to the project?
We expect the overall commitment to be about 4 months per paper, contributing no more than 4-5 hours per week.

How many papers may I contribute to?
We encourage you to volunteer for any number of Best Practices communities. We recommend you contribute to no more than two at any one time, so you can give ample attention to the papers at hand.

How will the Best Practices papers be distributed?
AIIM will allow Professional Members free access to the papers and worksheets, and will charge Associates a nominal fee. The Best Practice community members will each receive a free copy of the finished products for personal use.

Who "owns" the papers?
AIIM will be the publisher and copyright holder for all works produced by the Best Practices communities.

So we write and publish a paper. Then what?
The Best Practice community will disband. There will be options for new communities to form to develop other products (like worksheets, checklists, and presentations) on the same topic.

What do I get out of this?
For your efforts, you will be recognized as part of the Best Practices development/writing team, acknowledged in the paper and on the AIIM.org website. You will receive a copy of the final product for your personal use. And you'll gain recognition from your peers and colleagues.
